last friday i worked in the jam room at moremusic which involves a guitarist, bass player, singer, and a rapper (me). It went very well overall me and a young person managed to come up with a hook for a track we will later perform at the gig next week. It all came about after half an hour of playing around with hooks, the young person was very nervous but once we got a good response of passing people in the building the young persons was confident in her ability to sing and perform overall it was a good session and got a lot done and managed to overcome some confidence issues with the young persons.
Last night i attended the harris art gallery for the opening of the cultural olyimpiad, It was a very good night with lots of interesting people and organisations. I was there representing blaze as a young producer. To celebrate the cultural olyimpiad there was a laser projected rainbow that shone above preston ( pictures on my blog ). I am just excited to get started on the project now of producing the blaze festival.
review
- I attended a Get it loud in libraries gig the other week which was showcasing the artist ghostpoet who had recently come into the lime light after going on the Jules Holland show on BBC. The support act was Alt J who have recently been getting played on BBC radio 1 which is national radio station in england, the night was a sellout gig averaging about 150-200 people, the first act to perform would be Alt j the supporting act, I would have to say they were very good a very clear sound with a unique way of producing their songs. The band (alt j) included a pianist ( keyboard ) a drummer who was good but you could tell he was very nervous as he dropped his drum sticks on one occasion there was also a bass player who would on occasions play guitar and there lead singer who played guitar was very good and had a unique way of singing overall i would recommend anyone to see one of there gigs if they have there chance. The headline act ghostpoet got a great response from the crowd it was clearly stated they was all big fans of ghostpoet. His music was a very trance chilled hip hop mix which involved numerous loops from Ghostpoet himself who would numerously play the keyboard in between vocals there was also a drummer and guitarist who played very well together and experience shone through out there performance.
- All together they performed a total of 6-7 tracks which were very good and stuck in your head the only negative comment i would have to add would be that the P.A was to loud so you could hardly here ghostpoets lyrics on occasions. I would give the night an overall review of 7/10.
as part of my work placement for moremusic with ignite I have just learned how to do and for fill an invoice and complete my time sheet. Which is a good skill to learn because its a transferable skill for any job.
